Honors 10: Day 4 of 200 Words. . .

Honors 9: Received copies of TKAM (Read Ch 1 for homework). Copy Day 4 of 200 words. HOMEWORK: Read 1 chapter of TKAM a night through Sunday (have chapters 1-7 read by Monday–quiz!).

YBK: Sorted senior cap/gown pics; added clubs to club pages

Honors 10: We defined 20 words (200 LIST OF TERMS YOU MUST KNOW BEFORE LEAVING ENGLISH CLASS ) in class. We read a sheet “How To Read a Poem.”

YBK: Finishing up / setting up for club pics

Honors 10: Mrs. Jeffcoat came to speak briefly about work-study program. We defined free verse; we read Countee Cullen’s “Incident” and Langston Hughes “Mother to Son.” We began writing an original free verse poem (and shared). HOMEWORK: Field Trip money is due Wednesday.

Honors 9: We finished up our unit on Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare, etc.

YBK: Worked on CLUB PIC schedule for Friday; worked on deadlines

Honors 10: 3rd & 6th read “Phenomenal Woman” and “Ain’t I a Woman” to celebrate and honor Black poets during Black History Month. 4th period took part II of the Julius Caesar test. We also made conversation hearts using TONE WORDS.

Honors 9: Students took the Romeo and Juliet exam (70-questions).

Monday, January 2 and Tuesday, January 3

YBK: Working on DPS deadline of Feb 20.

Honors 10: We finished watching ACT IV of the video on Monday. We finished watching Act V of the video on Tuesday. There is a worksheet that accompanies it. Get that from a friend if you lose yours (I’m totally out of copies). After we finished watching JC on Tuesday, we played a review game (Jeopardy!). Test over ALL of JC, the “real” JC, and all-things Shakespeare (check the powerpoints / notes  from class discussions) on THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 5 and will finish on FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 6.

Honors 9: We began Act IV of R&J. As we read along with the cd, students are “drawing” what happened in each scene. We finished Act IV on Tuesday and will begin Act V. There will be a test over R&J/All Things Shakespeare/Elizabethan and Renaissance Theater as early as this coming Friday (2/6/15), but as late as next Monday (2/9/15).
